MDF BOARD (MELAMINE, UV, VENNER, SLOT COLORS)
When shopping for wood furniture, floors, or other home furnishings, you might see that some of the real bargains are made from MDF boards. So, what is an MDF board? MDF, which stands for “medium-density fiberboard,” looks like real wood cut straight from a tree, but is recycled pieces of wood pressed together with an adhesive under high temperature and heat conditions.
MDF board has many benefits besides the low cost. For one, it’s stronger than particle board (which is made from compressed sawdust) and is often made with a veneer to create the look of a solid wood board.
Compared with hardwood, MDF is lighter, the chemicals within repel termites, and it doesn’t warp much in humid weather. All in all, it’s a cheap, sturdy, low-maintenance middle ground in the world of wooden home furnishings. However, it has recently come under fire (more on that next).
MDF is a combination of softwood and hardwood, it is easier to use for all kinds of projects, both interior and exterior construction projects. MDF Boards come in different types which are melamine, UV, veneer, and slot MDF.
Melamine MDF consists of wood fibers that give it a flat and smooth surface. Whereas UV (Ultra Violet) MDF has a high gloss surface, and brightness, is pure, and is corrosion resistant, also the Veneer MDF is a base decorative panel, of real wood with a natural look. The slot MDF are grooved and slotted wall display systems used in retail stores.
